...My new to me boat had been sitting neglected for a few years so I am in the process of doing fluid changes. I would like to change the old trim tilt fluid and figured I'd do the marine thing and use Volvo factory fluid. Volvo Pentas price on thier website for a quart of Duraplus power steering tilt/trim fluid is $45.03!!! . I am by no means a cheapskate but this seems absolutely crazy to me. Please someone say it ain't so!!!. Question is can I use a conventional hydraulic oil or is there a marine grade fluid from another manufacturer I could use that costs a little less.
I can just picture myself getting the Volvo Duraplus at 45$ bucks and having it spill into my bilge while I'm filling the trim reservior...I'd go into cardiac arrest!!!
'98 3.0GS w/ Volvo SX drive. Thx. guys,
Mikey
