Pressure testing cylinder head

I Have got 2 possible second hand cylinder heads for my 1990 V6 4.3 and wonder if you have any tips about testing it for leaks?

So far I have come up with 2 ideas:

1) Acetone test in waterways
2) Let my head reconditioning company test it

Is the head surface painted where it will be in contact with the gaskets?

Don't think so, I have asked the to pressure test and mill the heads now.

Let the machine shop do it.... Also would have them decked to clean up some of the pits on your gasket surfaces.
