What, if any, coating is recommended for the cork fuel tank gasket? Also, the cork float has shed its coating. I've read of using super glue or "fuel resistant epoxy" to recoat them. What recommendations are there for "fuel resistant epoxy"? Thanks for any replies.

I built a balsa float for a carb a few years ago and coated it with fuel proof dope that is used on model airplanes, found it at a hobby / model shop. As for the gasket I think I just put mine on dry when I rebuilt my tank. If I did anything I used some sealant I had left over from my I/O days. It was a non-hardening sealant that is very sticky and the consistancy of honey. If I remember the name I will post it up.

FWIW...dealer said they just install them dry. After disassembling and reassembling 3 times trying to find the cause of fuel leak by the push button pump , I found out evinrude issued a service bulletin to correct this. Installing part no. 376988 ...available as "vintage part" now for $120 or so. Guess this leak will be one of those choose to ignore things as it only occurs well after enough pressure to get the fuel to the carb bowl.

I usually put a little Permatex #2 on the gasket. Never have any leakage.
