Pressure gauge

So I bought a pressure gauge, a Bravo SP-125 from west marine. It came with a bunch of adapters for different air valves, but apparently, this thing does not work with halkey-roberts valves. The way the gauge is designed, it looks like I can put it in my air line from the pump.

I'd like to mount this in the air line from my foot pump. Does anyone have any suggestions for adhesive to seal it to the air line? I am thinking to use RTV or some sort of silicone adhesive.

I really want to get some sort of gauge to work. I am pretty sure I am not inflating my tubes all the way.

Re: Pressure gauge

What pump are you using. I think it's designed to screw inline between hose and pump. Should fit Bravo pumps.

Re: Pressure gauge

I have a Bravo 7 foot pump. It came with my 9 ft Bombard SIB. It does not have a gauge mounted in it like some of the other pumps they make. Bravo even makes the gauge that I have. There is not a way I can put in on the pump or screw it into the hose. The one in the picture I linked earlier looks like it would.

The one I have does not have any screw threads on it, just smooth sides that appear to be similar in diameter to the air hose. The gauge itself has a one way valve in it also. I am thinking to cut the air hose and put my gauge inline, but is there any sealant I should use?

Re: Pressure gauge

The posted pic corresponds to the SP 90S adapter and gauge, is for hand pumps only (Pic-1) SP 125 (Pic 2) is the new model, replaces old Universal Adapter. Matches Bravo 7 plain hose end to gauge/adapter shown.- Check if possible to buy the adapter alone and screw gauge to it, use provided white round spare adapters for a perfect air valve fit.-

Re: Pressure gauge

After reading another post, I realize the importance of a good gauge. Thanks Sea Rider! Every site i found had negative reviews on the Bravo gauge. I have one of their foot pumps and it is excellent. I need a reliable gauge that won't break the bank Ideas please

Re: Pressure gauge

Tinasdude,

Check this : Scoprega SP 125 Manometer Pressure Gauge

Fit any white air valve adapter at extreme of gauge asssembly, try the one that it's best detained inside air valve when pushed in, once you've made a perfect adapter/valve match, wiould suggest glueing the white adapter onto assembly extreme. Sometimes when you pulll assembly out after checking pressure, the white adapter will pop off from assembly remaining inside air valve while fully presssing central valve pin open and consequent pumped air loss.

Re: Pressure gauge

That's funny. A Bravo by another name is still a Bravo. Thanks for trying to help though.

Re: Pressure gauge

BRAVO Gauge at West Marine. on sale. at this price. have to try. gauge is said not to be accurate, but better than no gauge i presume. More concerned about getting inflatable keel pressure right than the tubes, but getting the tubes right would be nice

Re: Pressure gauge

Scoprega and Bravo are same products made by Scorprega Italy, just offered with 2 different names. The one sold at WM is not a 125 model, it's the SP 90S model erroneously offered. The one sold at Defender is. Go for the Scoprega gauge, hope will go boating happily ever after.

If white valve adapter does not stays on valve, put one complete turn of 3 M black electric tape so doesn't lose pressure when reading. Bear in mind that there are 3 different Halkey Roberts valves, the one with yellow central pin is the original, the one with gray pin is Korean made, the one with black pin is PRCH made and all 3 has slight different internal diameters.-

BTW, have written a very bad review on VM web page, how can these guys sell products which part number and even picture which doesn't correspond, sometimes don't know what they sell. This is a real Bravo SP-125 pressure gauge & adapter, not the one currently offered on web page.-

Re: Pressure gauge

Appreciate the education. They looked to be the same. I stand corrected. Guess I will contact WM. Thanks again.

Re: Pressure gauge

Do you think I will get the one that you show pictured? Think I will be calling. Once again, appreciate your help.

Tinasdude,

Correction, Scorprega and Bravo are made same by Scoprega Italy and sold with 2 different names. High end products are manufactures in Italy and middle to low products made in Scorprega China facility.

If you buy Bravo hand pump model Bravo 4 ALU or Brvo Kite, both comes with attached pressure gauge, can read psi while inflating or at a stop position. You can even unscrew gauge and adapter and use it without pump to monitor inflation at any time as seen on forth post, first pic (*)

If buying SP 125 gauge & adapter alone, why don't you buy the correct one being offered at Defender instead at WM. For WM SP 80 S is a SP 125. SP 80 S is what holds hose to pump body as shown in same pic (*)
