Howdy,
Getting the boat already to put in the water for the first time this year, finally!
Going through hoses, mounts and checking for tightness of everything. Should I check the transom gimbal housing and make sure they are torqued to factory specs? Factory manual says 23 ft lbs. I also was looking at the power steering cooler that is inline to the intake. Should those be taken off and checked? I noticed a little grease around it. Will put it on muffs later today and see if there are any other issues,
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Bob

Pre-season check out can differ for each person and/or boat. So basically anything you think needs checked is good to check. But that also doesn't mean you remove nuts and bolts and retighten them again. Most of the time a simple look-see is all that is needed. I never re-torqued any bolts in a pre-season check out. But there is nothing wrong with doing that either. I mostly check for worn, broken wire connections and all hoses as well. Make sure oils are okay and grease things that need greasing. Basically look for loosen or missing hardware and things like that. Check the batteries and general issues like that... JMHO!

No, if you start seeing water in your bilge and don't know where it came from, check transom with a screw drive to see if the wood is soft. Checking the torque should never be an issue so long as your transom does not have water coming into it, If you do have water coming in you have some major issues heading your way. Don't worry about it, just go boating

Again no don't bother with it so long as you don't see cracking of the hoses

Check the torque on your gimbal ring clamping screws. Alpha I and gen II should be 50-55 ft lb.
