Can anybody give me an estimate on how long the Merc guidelines say it should take to swap the upper gear cases on a pre-Alpha and/or how long it actually takes an experienced Merc tech to do the job? No other work, just swap out old corroded cases for new ones. <br /><br />I don't have the special tools probably needed or the experience to tackle it myself so I am going to pay to have it done but I need to make sure the estimate I get is reasonable. I think he's going to come in with 2 hours per (I am having 2 done) does that sound about right?<br /><br />Thanks in advance!
He's getting paid on warranty to tear down the lowers, flush, new pumps and re-seal so I think he's cutting me a break on the uppers... <br /><br />They are just bare cases - eBay freshwater retreads I picked up over the years for a song. I figured since the lowers are being pulled apart I might as well swap the upper cases now. The uppers were checked and resealed about 2 or 3 years ago when I picked up new lowers so mechanically they should be fine...
