Pre alpha prop

Any one have an idea where to find an old 17 spline prop for an early KiaKiafa(spelling is off) drive?
The other option so I am told is to change out the drive with an Alpha 1 Gen 1 lower.

Feedback of all types is welcome...

All I can ask on this one is HELP. I am working on a buddies boat with an old Merc drive. The Kiekhaefer drive is an issue. WE can not find a prop, 17 spline, posted on the prop forum, nor can my local prop shop. Has any one changed out the lower for an Alpha 1 Gen 1. I have read you can. Information and direction would be appreciated. I am a first timer on this site but not to the world of turning wrenches. SO dont be afraid of getting technical.

What engine and drive does he have? What year?

If it is a pre-Alpha it should have the usual 15 spline. They are hard to count. If you pay the postage, I'll ship you the remains of a prop to try sliding on.

Alphas and pre-alphas will fit the same prop. I move props between my '87 Alpha 1 and my MR's all the time. (I spend too much time in stumpy lakes).

The engine is a small block chevy, 305 or 350. Still looking into that too. The drive is a 1969 Kiekhaefer drive. And there are 17 splines on the prop shaft. I have been looking on SEI stern drives and it does seem like we can swap out the lower for an Alpha 1 Gen one drive. But I have not found any one to concur on this.
