Pre alpha compat

I bought a 88 donzi with a mercruiser 3.0 over the weekend. It looks great. Only thing is that the outdrive for it is toast. The guy said it's a alpha 1 gen 1. I can't find any serial numbers on it so I'm gonna take his word on it. I have a 76 pre alpha outdrive from my other boat and was wondering if I would be able to to just slap it on the new boat. I'm 99% sure it's not a gen 2. Your guys expertise is greatly appreciated.

The 76 outdrive came out of a mercruiser 120. I think it's a 2.1 or Something like that. But if I read right the ratios are the same. Thank you for the reply,you just made my day great.

I don't suppose u know what gasket kit I would need for it would ya?

Ayuh,.... Even the Gen.II gaskets work just Fine,.....

Matter of fact, that's All I buy, by the 1/2 dozen, as they seal 'em All,....
