prawn trap pullers

i hope i am in the right forum....i am now getting tired of pulling my 4 traps by hand...and i dont want to spend 600 $ candian on a trap puller ....i am looking for anyone that has a neat and cheap way of making a trap puller that they have come up with and wouldnt mind sharing their information.... please feel free to give share your information.... thanks =)

Feel your pain. There is a device I've seen marketed for about 50 bucks, I would describe it as a one way pully, connected to a large scotchman. You run your line through the pulley and after tying it off use your boat to pull the line through the pulley, the scotchman creates enough drag so you are able to lift the traps rather than just pull them along the bottom. when your first trap hits the pulley you slack off and the brake on the pulley leaves the trap suspended under the scotchman. I saw the system for sale at resort up in the Broughtons, guy used it daily and swore by it.

thanks for the reply...i think its also called a anchor helper....ive thought of that but was more interested in anyone that has a home made electric puller design and list of parts etc. thanks again for your reply....i will try your idea =)
