I found the amplifier/powerpack is bad on my motor is there a way the repair this or convert it so it will run and be cheper to repair then replacing the amp. The last price I could find on one was 240.00 plus a coil at 40.00.
I have a 71 Evinrude 60hp
model #60173c. :(

Re: powerpack replacement

Think that model has points.. so you can pull the powerpack out, and set it up as a car coil setup.. ie the points feed a negative to the coil and the ignition feeds the positive..

Its pretty easy to do,, check around on the net with google.com and you might find a write up about it..

regards

Frank

Frank,
yes it does have points two sets of them. Now would I still set them up as a car would be or does the condensor get hooked up differently. This has three cyls and only one coil?
