Re: Powerpack keeps burning out ?

welcome to iboats. you might want to check to see if there is some broken insulation going to or from your powerpack since it keeps shorting them out. I am not familar with this engine so this post will get it back to the top where people who do know will see it. good luck

Make sure your battery cables are tight. If your battery has wing nut either replace them with standard nuts or tighten them real tight with pliers.
Ypur power in gear problem sounds like your carbs need a good cleaning.

Loose battery connections can play heck with the entire electrical system of that motor. And yes, a motor can rev in neutral with bad carbs. There is no load on the motor except its own internals.

Re: Powerpack keeps burning out ?

Frequent powerpack failure can be caused by the slightest amount of voltage being applied to the black/yellow wire at the pack..... the SMALLEST amount of voltage!

Disconnect that wire at the powerpack, then hook up a volt meter to it. With the key in the ON position, there should be no voltage at that point at all.

Should voltage exist, disconnect that same black/yellow wire at the ignition switch. If the voltage ceases to exist, replace the ignition switch.
