Most, if not all Garmin units come with maps loaded on the drive. The chip reader is for software updates.

There is no docs on the pin out of that connector that I can find. Power is typically pins 1 and 2 but that’s just a guess. Can’t damage anything just probing with the meter.

Having said that, did you check for power at the Distribution panel? Power cord failures are extremely Rare unless physically damaged.

Some of those units have an inline fuse. I assume you checked that. They can be prone to corrosion.

Your unit should have two cords. One is for power, the other is transducer, if memory serves. The power plug will only have 2 or 3 conductors. It also may have 4 real thin wires for communicating with a HF radio. The Garmin site should have an owners manual. It will have some info on wiring.

The fuse holder on those units is a know problem area. The first thing I do on new install is to cut the OEM fuse holder and replace with one of my own picking.

That unit it at least 10 years old. What is your "price point"

Commander Dingbat was correct although holder and fuse looked new it was defective and I replaced it with a new in line fuse holder -the unit now works-I may not have looked at that as a possible issue with out your advice-Thank you

Same chartplotter with sonar capabitlity -question- no manual- he has transducer in bag with water- in bilge-not sure if this is bilge water or intentional-does the transducer require water to function without a thru hull cut in bottom
