1999 200 hp Johnson OceanPro model # J200PXEEN
Would I be able to directly swap a 225 hp powerhead into this motor with no other changes? Just pull the 200 and drop in a complete 225 or are there other changes that would have to be made?

The powerheads are the same. What is it you're trying to gain?

Just thinking that if/when I redo this thing I'd make it a 225 for the extra hp.

Both blocks are the same part number therefore both have the same port timing. Both have the same crank, rods & pistons, therefore same bore & stroke. Both have the same gearcase.

There is a variance granted by the NMMA for advertised hp. The 200 is on the conservative side and the 225 is on the optomistic side. The 225 has a little different carb set up and may have a little higher rev limiter in the pack, depending on which pack you have.

There are some very easy things to do to wake one up though. What boat do you have? What is your current set up like? What are you hoping to gain?

It's on a 24' Aquasport CC. Just thinking 225 might gain a little somewhere. Preferably hole shot as I'm not concerned about getting more speed. Just mulling it over and considering options like rebuild vs repower and if I rebuild why not go to 225 if it's no big deal. I suppose however that with that size of a boat adding just 25 horses may not be all that noticable.

I'll have to get back to you about that. The boat is new to me and I've barely had it out. I try to get that info in a few days and come back here. Thanks for the help so far.
I'm thinking about this because the motor is a 99 and I figure it'll want some sort of update before too long.

Update a 3 liter to a 3.3? Yes, that is possible.......
