Powerhead interchangability

Does anyone know if a 1997 115 powerhead can be swapped for a 1990 90 hp powerhead?

i know that the adapter for the 1990 90 hp will fit 1997 115 hp on models beginning with J & XJ I think where the differences come in is with the adapter gaskets & water intake & outlet you will have to try & mix & match i think the major differences will depend on the where the water intake is on the blocks
