Powerhead identification 70hp evinrude

I recently purchased a 1995 evinrude 70hp two stroke outboard.the tag indicates that it is a 95,but a envinrude guru looked at it and said the powerhead was older than 95.what can i check ensure what year model of the powerhead.

What color is the paint of the powerhead?

Tpowerhead is black.the lower unit and midsection are the dark blue.

ive got 2x 1995 54ci engines both have black powerheads and dark blue casings.
mine are the 60hp variants but its just bigger carbs on the 70hp version,everything else the same.
on the cylinder head will be a core plug, just check the number of that.
also take a pic of the powerhead and post it here.

here is a few pics of mine to see if its the same. if it looks the same as this then its a 1995.
the water tell tale is on the top also the block looks like it is a sort of orange peel effect.
the cylinder head where the thermostat housing is a different shape to older syle as well.

what year does your omc mechanic think it is ?

also the hood is different to previous years and the mid section and leg dont have coloured stripes !!!!!

The plug on top is am-70a g175788 i havent figured out how tto open the attachment that you sent me.

Also the tag says its an e70tleor.
