Hello,
2006 Mercury 115 4 stroke.
I recently discovered I have an engine oil leak coming from the base of the powerhead. I pulled the powerhead and replaced 2 oil pump seals and the powerhead base gasket.
The first time I pulled the powerhead and replaced the base gasket I used RTV on only 1 side of the gasket. (Not sure my thought process there). Put everything back and still had the leak.
I then found out you’re not supposed to use sealant on that gasket via the shop manual. So I took everything back off and carefully removed all of the rtv. Put everything back on and it’s still leaking. I’m not sure where to go from here, I can see the oil oozing out. I’ve checked the mating surfaces with a straight edge and cleaned them up really good.
I’ll include photos of where I can see the oil coming out.
