I would think so. We did ours that way. It did not come off as expected but i did not use any cleaner either. I would get some good Alige cleaner and spray that on let it soak then blast it. One thing is you dont want to Bast any holes in it either. I would check the condition of the pontoons fist, look at every nook and cranny. If it seems solid, than go for it.
