Power tune engine cleaner

Mercury 2002 115hp efi fourstroke
Going through repair manual 100 hr service came across step 14
12. Check control cable adjustments.
13. Inspect timing belt.
14. Remove engine deposits with Power Tune Engine Cleaner

My motor has 300 hrs on it have not done this step any thoughts on this product or is there another i should use

did some more online research i dont think the product is for my engine more for carburated efi , found post on another message board about using Mercury quick kleen in the fuel

I don't think that Powertune is intended for your engine since you have a four stroke. Your's is like an auto engine. You should change the oil.

Don't know about 4 strokes engines, this product works perfect on 2 strokes engines, a must use each 100 metered hours or longer, to keep carbon building inside engine interior cleaner and running smoother.

It says on the can "for 2 and 4 stroke engines", I have used it in my car as well as my outboards.

Sure it does so they can sell more cans. The benefits are nill for a 4 stroke engine. The two strokes build up burned oil. This is why they can use powertune.

All motors can build up carbon deposits.Ever take an EGR valve apart?Carbon is why they go bad.
Seafoam can be added in the fuel.J

Actually, water will clean an engine better than powertune because it does not burn but instead turns to steam and steam cleans the pistons and exhaust valves.
