I have 72 starcraft 17ft trihull with 140 mercruiser. power trim acts like theirs air in lines disconnected line at right and it dosen't push any fluid out and pump makes bubbleing sound. pump has no reservoir and looks like a 14336A8 but not sure. how do you fill and bleed this type of system? thanks in advance for any help

Re: power trim

my guess is that a '72 140 trim system wanted 20w oil. 20w oil ain't available no more. mine wants the same. i use 10w30. if ya got oil in the system, add oil. if it's got atf in it, add atf. best i understand, the trim system will work with either or, atf (hydraulic fluid) or oil. just don't mix the two.

there is a bleed down procedure for the trim system on mc-1. look at s/m #1 here. check out trim systems. that said. apha1 trim systems are self bleeding. run them up and down multiple times and they bleed themselves...

the resiviour is the large square part of the trim pump. the part under the fill screw... fill it up and top it off with trim full in. that way all the fluid is in the resivour. not in the rams...
