I think I am just gonna start lifting the drive with a rope....good hell. So this is an approx 1980 Merc 140, has the single solenoid metal prestolite pump w/ rotary style trim sender and interupter. The cylinders had to be completely drained and a few of the hoses have been replaced, I feel confident that I have them all running correctly but would be willing to admit I could have easily screwed the donkey somewhere.

I followed the procedure in manual number 4 and somewhere along the line the reverse lock valve started blowing oil all over the place. Under further examination, I undo the lines and notice there is no check ball assembly on the elbow on the aft end of the reverse valve and this whole valve has been tampered with most certainly at some point. I'd love to just do a work up on it but I can't seem to find a kit as I would think there would be....if that's what it even needs.

iBoats = endless wealths of knowledge. If it were not for the staff and fellow members I would know nothing about boats and may have even given up the hobby by now. iBoats (meaning all of you, some more than others) deserve a HUGE show of gratitude. May you all venture across scantily clad coeds all of your days.

Love it.... :D

OK.. reverse lock valve. NLA ex Merc. I've posted up the parts list so you can check availability of individual parts. Ensure the valve is in the DOWN circuit lines. If it's in the UP it will experience too much pressure and blow oil everywhere :D....

HTH,

Chris.....
