I have a friend with a 96 Bayliner with a 3.0 Mercruiser and an Alpha outdrive.

They scraped the skeg hard the last time out (forgot to raise the outdrive) and since then the outdrive raises really, really slowly.

It will lower pretty fast, but it takes 5 minutes to raise it up. Everything looks fine, nothing bent and no leaks. Any ideas?

May want to unhook the hydro lick cylinders from the out drive and see how fast the rams travel in and out. You may find out when you try to hook up the rams to the outdrive that they do not line up because they are bent.

Have you tried standing on the lower unit when it is all the way up? If not, try this and see if the unit will hold your weight. You might even try jumping up and down. If it comes down you are going to have to go inside to see if some seals got blown.
