Power trim issues!

My trim stopped working today! It will go down (sometimes) but not up. The soloniod for the trim up is clicking on and putting power through. The motor seemed to be sluggish lately, and I have broke the released valve as it was seized. Wondering if this may be brushes on the motor or some other issues. The gauge never worked all last year, could this be the issue *** well.

Thanks guys!

Re: Power trim issues!

You might tell us the year and HP of the motor. PTT units varied from year to year and HP to HP. There are two cylinder, one cylinder and 3 cylinder PTT units.

So I took the motor out to inspect it and the brushes look ok. I connected straight to the batteries and it was pretty jolty in both directions. Should I try to find a replacement or could this also be a low hydraulic fluid problem. If so how do you check the hydraulic fluid level.

Hi Chris. The boat is a 1989 invader with a 150HP SN 5672026. I took the pump motor apart and the brushes look fine. I connected it straight to the battery and it didn't move well in either direction. Do you think the motor is shot or could it be low hydraulic fluid?
