power trim issues

Hi everybody,<br /><br />Just bought my first boat - a 1974 century 200. It has a Mercruiser 3.0L 188hp engine. I took it out last week and everything was fine. Went to take it out today and the power trim won't lower. The motor is working as I can hear it making the normal sound to go down, but it will not leave the up position. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. <br /><br />Thanks,<br />Ian

I just had the same problem. I filled the trim oil resevoir and worked for a bit but there was a leak in the system. I eventually had to change the trim cylinders.

thanks John. I actually contacted a guy at amarket.com which is an aftermarket parts site with great prices. I actually have to change one cylinder housing as it is stripped and I think I am going to attempt the ram overhaul kits and attempt to replace the guts of it. thanks again!
