This is a great sight, Hello, I'm having fun with my new '63 creatliner 14'-0" with '66 johnson 60hp motor. The boat is in very good condition, the motor is good but has been sitting for two years so this winter my oldest son and myself will dig in and rebuild the carb, fuel pump, tune up and maybe coil. My question is I'm looking for a power trim and tilt setup for this motor. I did a search and on this sight and didn't find anything. Can I get some input on this??
Thanks to all for you input
Mike and son Zach
Still digging it

Unless someone has come out with a after market PTT unit that will adapt to those older engines, there is no power tilt trim unit to fit your engine.

Back in that time area, there was only Power Tilt which was used simply to raise and lower the engine for trailering purposes etc. The tilt angle would not hold while underway.

Thanks Joe Reeves for the information. Now I know there was at least a power tilt. Do you know how I could go about finding one?? I've tried Ebay with no luck.
The motor is 60hp Johnson Model #VXL-12R (not sure what the R stands for, anyone??) Serial #J2653971

Thanks again

Hi,

I have a '72 65HP evinrude. I am looking for the same thing as you. Getting somthing is like finding rocking horse Sh&t.

However I am trying to convert a PTT unit from a '84 75Hp unit. I have the full transom bracket as well so Hopefully with some adjustments I can get it to fit.

Any input would be welcome.

See the following posts for details.

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=28;t=026944

And try

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=28;t=026641#000000

Ian

The original OMC part number for the power tilt assy was 380634, and was superceeded up to 382713. Unfortunately it was discontinued in 1985 and at that time had a list price of $355.00.

I'm sure that there must be some that can be found in various marine junk yards. Hopefully this info will help you out somewhat.

Hey guys, I bought a CMC tilt and trim assembly from Cabelas last year. It's a great unit with the added benefit of a slight set-back for the engine. Bolts right in between the motor and transom.

Devilfish,
I have already done what you are doing. It works great. Search for "yahoo 72 100HP Johnnie has T&T" on this forum and you can see pics. You need to adapt your steering stem to the later swivel bracket. After that you just bolt it back together. Good Luck

Russ In Texas

I think the factory unit will fit that motor - at least I've had one on a 1966 80hp. Is there a triangular pad on one side of the transom bracket with three bolt holes? That's where the motor/pump bolts up. The hydraulic cylinder replaces one of the shocks. The factory unit up through 1972 will fit yours. Replacing the shock can be a bear on a saltwater motor.

Skyguy did a great job grafting a late-model PTT onto a 1972. I'm not sure the same surgery will work on 1968 and older motors, which have a significantly different midsection.
