just giving 2cents worth here, i'd say first you want to have the battery in a carrier right near the winch. then use a cheapo set of jumper cables you've hacked up with terminal lugs instead of alligator clips.<br /><br />otherwise, if you plan on using your vehicle battery for power, figure out how much current that puppy is pulling. do this by asking others, or reading the rating info on the winch, or do it the old fashioned way- put an ammeter inline with one leg of the jumpercable from battery to winch.<br /><br />if over 10amps, then i'd think you do not want to use the vehicle battery, unless you run some very strong cabling back to the bumper. as in 8g or better. if more than 10amps then i'd go with a factory battery cable size, like 6gauge. personally, i'd run 2 gauge twin, hot/grnd, just to be really content... <br /><br />just IMHO<br /><br />(you might find some old welding machine cabling with stranded wire - the best)
