hit power down and i hear the motor turning but outboard still in the down not moving. So the power down works but not the up. Do i need to bleed the system or do i have a wire backwards or what!!!! Please help!!!;););)

Re: Power tilt

I pulled my merc 120 inboard outboard to get to the power tilt motor,

Ayuh,... You got me right there,...
The trim/ tilt pump is usually mounted to the side of the motor...
Why did you pull the motor, or drive, or whatever to get the trim pump out,..??

Lets start with Exactly What the motor,+ drive is,.... Got a serial #,..?? How 'bout a Picture,..??

My WAGuess is,... You've got an OMC Stringer drive, Not a Mercruiser....

Re: Power tilt

Thats exactly why i bypass everything and test the pump motor before throwing parts at it.
Half the time its a bad connection due to corrosion or a trim relay bad.

Pulled the engine?? Why??

Re: Power tilt

You still aren't answereing the question of year or SN.
From the looks of it, manual #4 should work.
We can guess all day long what your problem is, but will say one thing, if the motor isn't running, then you can't bleed it.
Second, from your pictures, you don't have all the wires hooked up, so it's going to be a bear to check.
GET the manual, and there is a section on bench testing. You can either test it out by the manual and find out whats wrong, or start throwing parts at it, or wait on some more guesses and try them one at a time till you figure it out.
