I managed to put a kink one of the four hydraulic lines on my 1973 Merc 850 as I was re-installing the outboard on my boat. I had drained the trim pump and removed the lines to remove the outboard to perform a transom replacement. Since I'm ready to fill the trim pump back up with oil, my questions are:

1. Is it possible that the line would be just fine with the slight kink or do I need to put a new one on?

2. If I need a new one, where do I find the part numbers for the trim system (I have the parts list for my outboard but the trim system is not included)?

3. Where's the most economical place to get replacement hoses?

Thanks!!

It may be OK with the kink. Any Merc Dealer will have a listing of the part number. I do not know of any source other than the Merc Dealer, or boat junkyard. A hydraulic shop may be able to make up a hose.

Dont forget to bleed the system, after you refill it.

Thanks. I think that I'll give it a try as is and see if it's OK.
