Power tilt & trim problem......

I have a 1979 evinrude 55hp. comerical motor, & out of the blue the motor wont stay in the up position?? when i trim it up it goes back down by it self? (slowly)..i checked for leakes...can't find any???also seems to be full of fluid..can any body please help? Thanks very much.....oh yea, it's has a prestolite pump system...

The first (and easiest) thing to look at is the manual release valve. See if it's open or if the seal is leaking. If not there, it's internal.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

thanks alot HOOTY, but i already checked the screw and it was tight looks like i'm goin back the the repair shop.
