Power Tilt/Trim on 25 Etec??

Could I expect much performance enhancement from power trim on this size motor? This would be for a narrow lightweight 18 ft v bottom boat that I'd rather not have additional weight, especially at the stern. 21 lbs for PTT on top of the added weight of this motor over the 20 hp that the prototype used. It was suggested that PTT was not needed.

My only comparison of with vs. without was on an 18 ft Privateer going from 60hp w/o to 75hp with PTT. Not sure I saw a whole lot of speed improvement trimming up, but it definitely made steering easier (lighter).

I'm not sure anyone can help me here with my decision, but I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks!

I don't think you will see too much performance change, BUT---Fishing, going into shallow water, docking, and loading--the convenience is remarkable. You will never want to be without power tilt again.

Its been my experience that manual trim is almost allways a compromise with one hole not quite enough and the next a little too much.
Of course power trim you can account for wave conditions as they change or when changing fishing location no need for passengers to change positions.
When we got power tilt for my mothers boat we suddenly realized how handy it was as the water went down in the fall or noodling around in the shallows and avoiding weed beds.

Yes, I know what you are talking about. PTT sure is handy--won't be doing any fishing though! But it was really nice on the Privateer.
I'm just concerned about the added weight--15% increase, and on a light boat--back where I'd least like it.

Thanks for the input; it's good to be reminded of the advantages.
