I bought a Tilt system on Ebay, and I am wondering if anyone can give any advice on how to install this thing.

From what I can tell, I am going to have to remove the engine, to get to the nut that secures the vertical king pin.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Dave.

you are pretty much gonna have to take the transom bracket apart to get the unit in there.

It just so happens that I rebuild these things and sell them as a complete, pre-assembled system. Which should be pretty much the same thing as what you have. Well, except that the rebuilt one will last longer. To prep yours for install, remove the mounting shafts and brackets. Make sure the lower bushings are either new or clean and apply a thin coat of marine grease to them. Inspect for corrosion build-up through mounting holes. If needed then use a dremmel roto-tool with small drum sander to clean them. Put the lower mounting shaft back in to hold it together while you transport it to your boat. There is no need to disconnect oil lines. You risk stripping the hydraulic threads and don't gain anything. Make sure that there is NO WATER IN THE RESEVOIR before starting. Use 30W NON-DETERGENT motor oil to top off the resevoir.

Here is a link to my installation instructions.
http://home.swfla.rr.com/netsvc/trimstall.pdf

oops - actually I do the 70HP and larger systems. Hopefully, installation should be similar and you won't have to remove the engine.
