Power steering fluid leak

Mercruiser 5.7 Alpha One, OC417576.
I just took my first lake test of the year & when I got back I gave her a good look over. I found some PS fluid on the motor so I started looking, I found a bit on the assist unit so I gave it a wipe and tested. I find that with the motor off, if I turn the steering to port which retracts the ram, that I get a stream of fluid out right under the shiny clip. (Sorry about the poor sentence structure.)

I'll start looking through the manual, but if there's a normal repair for this, clue me in. What's the fix?

Re: Power steering fluid leak

It looks like a Chevrolet power steering control valve from the 60's except that the strap that holds the boot on has a very obvious gap in it that looks like a relief. That's where the fluid is getting out. On the old style Chevy valves the strap is right against the valve body, on the Mercruiser there's that intentional gap. I ordered one just in case there is some other seal on the inside that I don't see.
I'm going to email the rebuilder too, maybe he can shed some light.

Well for reference, if this happens to anyone else there is a NLA repair kit. My dealer didn't have it, but e-bay did. It's in the Mercruiser database under part #25-58226A1 SEAL REPAIR KIT.
