power steering actuator help!!!

hi there I need help again my boat 1979 cruiser barnegat with a merc 305/228 and alpha one outdrive, short history I bought the boat and power steering pump was shot, I change the p/s pump put a new,add fluid and the power steering cilinder or actuator located back of the engine start leaking very bad so I took out the belt, use the boat last year like that but is time to fix the problem I found this actuator on ebay and I wonder if will work on my boat, or if is a way to rebuild the old actuator where can I get a kit for thanks again for the help.

I bought one of those for my alpha one gen 1. It will work, but you will need new hoses. The old hoses have different fittings. Take it, your hoses, and the power steeing pump to a place that specializes in hydraulics and have them make you new hoses/fittings.

ok not problem I work for carquest auto parts and we have fittings and hyd hoses I will buy it and make the hoses with new fittings thanks.

Were you able to switch to the new actuator without to many problems? I have the same issue.

hi there no I didnt solve that issue why, I end doing my boat was a 1980 and I bought a 1995 without motor so Im going to put my engine on that boat and has everything, by the way I think the easy way to fix is change te inner transon plate for the newer my was the pre alpha, the actuator for the pre alpha is diferents that the rest So I upgrade the boat because was cheap check my restoration.
