Re: power head removel

I pulled a powerhead off a 150 Mariner with a come-a-long then once it was off I realized that it can be handled by two people. They are heavy but not as bad as you think. Fi it does not lift off then you missed a bolt (there is always that one you just can't seem to find). When I re-installed the powerhead after rebuild two of us just lifted it on.

Initially we used a come-a-long hung above the motor. It only has to come up a few inches to clear everything.

Bob

Take off the lower unit first( if you haven't already) , makes diassembly/reassembly much easier. Good time to check that unit out thoughly also. A hoist that lifts up AND down is ness. for one man to do it, however, after I stripped off as much as possible(carbs/electric)I was able to lift it off with the help of a buddy (mabey #110). Reassembly can be tricky as theres a base gasket that needs to left intact. Follow the manuel presicely, take your time, and good luck.
