Re: power boaters

Sure it take more skill to sail.

Sure anybody can get behind the wheel of a powerboat without any training. but that email list is sophomoric, and not even funny.

As a sailor and a rower, I find that most power boaters are pretty courteous. Sure you run into an arsehole (and most of them are on PWC's) every once in a while, but I can't let it ruin my day.

:D vedi funny 00boaty - lol

ok....hmmmm...lemme c....

sailboat(s)/(er's) are:
- whiney
- yuppies with too much money
- should be sold for a newer bassboat
- faggadocious
- dress stoopid, like golfers
- probably are golfers too
- never got spanked by their mum & poppa
- are now grownup, rich brats
- stupid for being on the lake without more power
- always going the wrong way
- zigzaggin, which makes it hard to avoid them
- going slow enough to irritate everyone needing to leave the bay
- a good place for seagulls to take a dump
+ make decent shade for anchoring beside of, while fishing bottom structure
+ give the cigarette boats something to aim for
+ can't get into the shallow grassy flats and bother the bassfishermen
+ do have a nice big keel to hold onto when upside down in middle of lake

hehehe :D

Re: power boaters

nothing wrong with sailors and sailboats, I've pulled in a few when the winds too hard for them, and the rains fury. They just drop sail, I power up and to the landing we go. Most even offer a beer or few. Unless theyr'e too young of course. I have enough room for some of them too, when they have to climb aboard from a capsized one, from tacking the wrong way. tsk.tsk .tsk

My days of sailing. too funny to talk about, let's just say, they make fishing hard.

Re: power boaters

As a powerboater and wanna-be sail-boater, I gottas get in on this. There is no shortage of dunderheads on the water....but there are more the highways. I have seen more flagrant(sp?) violations of general navigational rules by boaters than I can mention.....and I've only had my new boat a couple of weeks  There are not sailors in the waters I frequent (or is it freakwent  ) but they all seem to know and observe the rules of navigation. So what if they are rich, yuppie types. I am working toward the same econoic tax bracket. Man, if I could afford a 50 foot catameran after my tithe and taxes I could do much more work for the Lord :)

Be blessed Sloopy :)
SoulWinner

My most enjoyable boat trip I ever had was a trip from Michigan City, Indiana to Mackinaw Island, MI, on a sailboat.

The boat was a 32' Erickson.

It took a week and we had a great time at all the "ports of call" along Lake Michigan's west coast.

Re: power boaters

Ive got one of each, in the summer, my 27ft Oday is a small lake cottage. the wind on lanier sucks anyway in the summer.(EBB knows) But in the fall, winter and spring, the sailing is great. the wind will blow 10 15 mph and then it dosen't matter if the powerboaters make waves, the oday will punch right thru them...... Soooo I use my 21 ft Chris Craft, 350 mercrusier 1980 model (flashback II) in the summer, and my oday the rest of the time.... guess what Im trying to say, is I love them all.................
