Pouring out fuel

When I lift my 86 Yamaha 50ELJ to pull I from the water after fishing, fuel pours from the hood. A lot of fuel. Are the carbs being dumped? Or is there something wrong? I didn't notice this last year.

Sounds like a float is stuck. Try running a double dose of Yamaha fuel treatment through it for 3 gallons in a separate tank and see if it's still dumping fuel. If it is a carb rebuild is in order.

pull the cowling and see where the fuel is coming from, could be a hose or other connection

Thanks. I'll give it a try. Carbs were just gone through last year though.

does it only leak when you tilt it up?
if so that is when you should be looking

That's the only time I've noticed it. I'm going to run it for a few with the air box cover off and watch it. And as I lift it after shutting it down.

I just know my 200 did that last year and dirty carbs were the culprit in my situation.
