Postion of Primer Bulb?

My primer bulb has the output end lower than the input end. After the boat sits for a week, I always pump the bulb and have noticed it doesn't want to get hard but the engine usually starts. I'm thinking that the reason is the postion of the bulb.

Is it better to have the output higher than the input at all times or doesn't it matter?

Thanks
StillFishin'

Re: Postion of Primer Bulb?

StillFishing.... Due to the design of the two valves within the fuel primer bulb, it is better to have the output end higher.
