post guide question

i bought aset of post guide ons i put them on but for some reason the brackets are leaning a little how far in should they be right up to the side of the boat or out about a inch or what i know they not right if they leaning so i think i did some thing wrong ?????? :confused: :confused:

They should stand off the boat a couple of inches on each side. <br /><br />BTW Thats the longest sentence i've read tonight. How about a little puncuation next time. Its to hard to read like that and a lot of those who could help may not.

I installed the 5ft side boards trailer guide from Shipshape and experienced the same "leaning out" tendency on the vertical members. There's couple of ways to remedy this that I know, but this is what I did:<br /><br />

<br /><br />I simply bolted a piece of metal strap on the unused holes on the bracket supplied; thus holding the vertical member tight. I understand that some people used a PVC pipe to hold the horizontal members (from the left and the right) together, thus forming like a letter U around the trailer; I like the first method better... :)

ST. i see what you are saying. my post are just right they are not leaning out.i mounted them on the top side because my boat is a little taller. the brackets are not sitting competly level on the frame in the back it is up just enough to notice if you get up to it and look across the frame.it looks kinda like the brackets are not. sitting flush like the u bolts twisted.

put a spacer between frame and bracket. a laarge washer, piece of metal, cut up tupperware.
