Portable Shade

Due to the hot summer sun that has been hitting me and the wife hard, so this year I am going to try this and see how it work, on the swimming beach or on the front of the boat fishing. I picked up 2, 3 1/2 foot umbrellas with a adjustable post at big lots and attached them to a folding chair with some heavy duty PVC pipe rings and wire ties that way it all folds up for storage. time will tell how well it works out.

I haven't got it done yet but planning on drilling the shafts and add a pin to stop them from blowing ways, I lost one like that several years ago.

Why not try to to use a larger diameter PVC and then attach it to a recessed table mount that you can install on the floor of your boat.

Yes I could do that and several have, The chairs are also taken off of the boat onto a beach area where the kids swim or at a boat in camp ground or other places so I thought I would try it on a chair by its self so you have shade any place.

I bought a 9' umbrella on sale at Wal Mart for $40. Drilled a 1 1/2" hole in my deck and sleeved it with a section of PVC. Umbrella stands in the front of the 'toon, the bimini top covers the rear of the boat, umbrella does the front. Was going to take pictures last trip out, but it was a 'bit' windy and I didn't want to launch my new experiment. Planning on making bungee tie downs for the corners of the umbrella, it needs to be up in calmer weather to measure .... soon.
