Do they work? Which one works best? Trolling for trout, salmon, togue, smaller, but fairly deep ponds. Like to find something w/ suction cup mount, good display, runs on flashlight batteries, running 12' semivee aluminum boat, would appreciate input, thanks.

Re: "portable" fish finders?

I use a little Eagle Cuda portable, on my little 14 foot Jon boat. It came with the suction cup transducer, but I decided to mount it on my trolling motor, The hardware to switch it over is about 20 bucks at Cabelas. The thing uses AA batteries, and surprisingly they last a really long time. The unit works great for depth and temp. It gives a fair amount of bottom detail, and is easy to use. The lake I use this boat in only goes to about 65 foot depths, and it works fine. I cant say for sure how one would be in any deeper water than that.
