Hello to all that post on this site. I just started up my vovlo-penta 2000 5.0 gi for the first time in over a year. After a year fight with cancer, I ready am to get back out on the water. In that time my starter froze up and replaced it. I just got it back up and running. Heres the issue. When I brought her up to about 2000 rpm, there was a popping sound starting to come from the exahast. (just above the prop) Not very loud but noticeable. When it pops water come out harder. I cant remember this happening before, but i just may not have noticed it before. Is this something to be concerned about. If so what can i do to fix it. I havent change the plugs out yet or the gas filter. My gas pump is screaming and i might have to replace that. And my gas is half a tank and more than a year old. I state these conditions becuase they may be causeing or adding to it. My second question is what do you all think i should do as far as preventative mantaince to ensure i covered all my bases for an engine that hasn't run for a while. Best wishes to all.

Greetings, and keep up the fight!

i'm no expert,(trust me) but, i'd try to get that gas out. a year is well beyond it's "shelf life" . has it been treated at all?. I'd change the filter, and the plugs.

as far as winterizing and maintaining, the "adults only" section (no idea why, i've not seen anything objectionable) has a tutorial on that. or try a search for those terms
