Post an add on Criagslist asking someone to move it. You'll have no problems finding someone with a truck and trailer down there as long as it isn't a huge distance.

Call Steve at Parker Marine in Rocky Mount. He gives excellent service and the only one at LOTO with any integrity. He's a graduate of the Naval Academy and a very good man.LOTO has a shortage of boat trailers because everyone has a dock.

Many boat repair shops have to provide trailers to get boats in for service in a place like LOTO where there are so many boathouses and marinas.

You'll need to have the boat checked out anyway if used. Any used boat needs a new water pump impeller and the lower unit grease changed--whether it needs it or not. You need peace of mind that you won't get stranded on the water.

And the lower unit needs pressure and vacuum tested to make sure the seals are doing their job. That's a job that requires a real marine mechanic to do it. Bad seals are a $300 repair on many motors. Penalty for having bad seals is ruining a $2k lower unit. Even used lower units in good shape pull $1100+.

the suggestion of using a boat shop is the best one.

but an alternative in a situation like this, since many people don't want to lend or rent a trailer, is to go buy a used one with the handshake agreement that the seller will buy it back from you (less a charge) if it comes back in good shape and within a certain time. That eliminates his risk that something will happen to the trailer on your watch, he makes a few bucks, your problem is solved, and your risk if he backs out is that you sell the trailer yourself.

A friend of mine did this when he blew the engine in his suburban on the first day of a 10 day family-of-six driving trip. He left his car with a mechanic to replace the motor, bought a used Suburban from him, returned a week later and sold him back the car and took his repaired car home. Smart thinking.

Thats not true at all. I know several people who run very honest shops on Loto. PDQ for one. Hell the one of owners of PDQ is one of the few marinas that come out to the Support the Troops poker run every year and takes soldiers out on the water and i think last i checked They charge 60 bucks an hour or something like that. it was low one of the lowest on the lake anyway. I happen to be able to do all my own work but if i couldnt figure something out pdqmarine.com is where it would go. Thier up by MM3.

I did end up just going out and buying a very new trailer that was not used much at all. $2700 new picked it up for $1500 just was trying to be cheap and get the boat home in the shop so i could start my resto. But ended up taking it out and giving it a good shake down run for two days.

If you found a used trailer, you did well. So many pontoon owners buy'em without trailers, and good used trailers are very, very rare. I watch Craigslist closely, and trailers very rarely show up within 250 miles of me. And on our lake, virtually every boathouse has a pontoon boat sitting in it.

Good luck to you!

If they buy them without trailers then the dealer must have a trailer and probably will take it out and put it back in for a fee.
