ANYONE KNOW WHAT YEAR THE BOAT MAUFACTURERS WENT TO A BIGGER DIAMETER SIZE PONTOON? I BOUGHT A 24' RIVIER CRUISER PONTOON BOAT. I WAS TOLD BY ANOTHER PARTY IT HAS SMALLER PONTOONS WHICH IS NOT GOOD. I GOING TO BE LOOKING AGAAIN AND WANT TO KNOW WHAT YEAR TO STAY AWAY FROM.

Welcome aboard, Larry

Please turn off your caps lock.

What's wrong with the size of the toons on your boat. Toon diameters are all over the place depending on who made it and the length of the boat. Are you happy with your boat or just looking for a larger tube because someone said? What is the diameter of yours?.

I'm asking because this boat needs a complete interior and don't want to invest a few thousand $ if smaller pontoon size will be an issue. Was told with small pontoons limited to number of passengers and gear especially if in choppy waters. Need to measure pontoon size.

Since it is a 24' pontoon, I think its safe to assume that the logs are the correct size for the length of the boat. Since you are talking about a complete re-furb, I think its also safe to assume the boat is old. In recent years log size has generally increased. Many newer 24' toons now come with a three logs.

You really just need to measure the diameter of the logs and decide for yourself if they are rated for the weight you want.

Larry, Riviera pontoons were older and usually came w/ diameters in the 19" - 21" range. Small by modern standards. Once you get to 23" and above they handle weight much better & "submarine" the bow less. Kind of depends where you will be boating most of the time. Good luck !!!

P.S.- Toons from the 60's, 70's & 80's tend to have the smaller diameter toons.
