Happy 24 to the Canadian members and a good morning to the USA members.

As some of you know I am in the middle of building a trailer for my pontoon kit boat.
I am just at the point where I am making the bunk stands and was wondering how high to make them. I know i have to raise them above my frame but when is there a point where your toons are to high and make lauching a problem?

How high are the bottom of your toons from the ground?

Thanks

Have a great weekend.

I'd make them just high enough so that the logs just clear the fenders by about an inch. Around 6" brackets would be good. You want the toon to sit as low as possible for launching and loading. My logs are probably about 21-23 inches off the ground.

Re: Pontoon height on trailer

Well after spending several hours with pencil and paper along with nurerous amounts of cardboard cut outs I have come up with a hieght of 27" from ground to bottom of pontoon.
I purchased my 3500 axel with 2 of ST205/75R15 rim/tire assembly, so I could return them and switch to a 13" rim and reduce the height a bit but should I?

Is 27" too high?

My pontoon trailer uses 205/65-10 tires.

Low as you can go would give the most stability.

I'd measure mine but it isn't here now. I'd say it is near 24" now that I have new bunks and re bent the brackets. I have a Hoosier trailer with 20.5/8/10 tires on it, single axle. Also, the bunks are about 1" above the fenders.

My pontoon sits 26" off the ground mounted on the trailer & is 3" above the fenders. I have a double axle Road King trailer with 205/65/10 tires. I also have the bunk "glides" instead of the carpeted bunks.

Thanks you all, I feel much better knowing that I am in the ball park with the height issue.

I hope to be putting the paint on in the next couple of days.

Wow it is bright.

If anybody is curious it will take at least 3 coats for it to cover.

Looking good!!

Yea my new one sits around 26" from the ground. I wish it were a little lower, I have to totally remove the bimini top to get it in the 8' tall garage door.
