living in the tampa area its not always easy to go to my fav spots whenever I want because of work or family. Well I have been hooked ok this new type of fishing that I have been doing, I call it urban fishing. Ill get on google maps and look for the ponds in the subdivision neborhoods and ill get a few on my gps and hit them maybe 3 a night. Well I have been slaying the bass in my local ponds. Just tonight after work I went to a pond its on of my regulars and because of storm debby it was really high. So I get out there about 7 pm and the action on the water is non stop. I use a texas rig watermelon seed no weight and I just work the banks almost every other cast. Most are med to small but tonight cought my biggest bass ever 6lbs 3oz and a few more close to that size. Guys if your not busy one evening hop on google maps get a few ponds and I'm telling you it may get hooked to.

I like pond fishing just as much as fishing from the boat. What I find is that after pond fishing for a while you get used to those big fat pond fish. Then when you go back to lake fishing you will notice the fish in bigger water are more muscular and lean. It's almost like pond fish are lesser fish to me even though they tend to be larger.

I used to do a lot of that in my younger days. Nowadays, getting permission from a landowner is next to imposssible and the ponds that you're allowed to fish are all but fished out.
