This last summer, started to explore and get permission to fish a number of small farm ponds, in our area. One, rather close to us, has a very healthy population of 17-19" Bass. Just a 1 acre pond, with lots of moss and frogs. Not the typical stunted bass ponds. Here are a couple of pics of what we caught, and released.

Re: Pond Bass

We found allot using Terraserver sat photos, then researching the owners, and finding them to get permission. You do get turned away by many people, especially if they haven't heard your name around, but many are happy to let someone fish them. We are always considerate of the land owners property.

There are numerous other ponds that we fish, that are full of 12-14" bass. We have caught over 40 in a couple hours, at some of them. Some owners have asked us to thin them out. Bass are abit strong tasting to us, so we transplant them to others ponds that are almost void of fish (they never stocked them). Its a pain to carry the 5 gallon pails, but its a small price to pay to get access.

We already have permission for 4 additional ponds, for this year. One is about a 3 acre beauty. Nothing like the anticipation of getting onto "virgin" waters! OK, slight exageration, but compared to most public waters, they are a "rirtual virgin". :D

Nice I hear ya on that one. A guy that pulled me out of the lake with his tow truck now lets us keep a Jon boat and lets us fish his small pond that we now have caught 8lb 2oz 7lb 6oz and 7lb 2ox from along with some 5s and smaller bass. Great guy and I fish the place every change I can get when im in the area fishing the Res's that are up there.
