The fish will be impressed. :joyous:

That and the people in Poland too, for buying one of their props.

(I don't know why, but I read the title as "Polish" props, as in a prop made in poland......)

Re: Polish props

There was a post a couple of years ago a guy polished his aluminum prop and compared the performance to when it was worn.
There was an improvement. I don't remember the details but it was measurable on a gps and as I recall it didn't last long.
Also not sure how rough the prop had been.It wasn't damaged.

Re: Polish props

Actually theoretically a one blade prop would be the best performer.

If ya' have the spare time.....why not? I have actually done this underwater with a pneumatic die grinder and a long extension....with a buffing wheel.

Each there own. Good Luck!

It sho nuff makes em look purty don't it? But I've never noticed much of an increase in top end. Dull or shiny she doesn't seem to care.

Having said that I confess to occasionally engaging in the act of prop polishing. Hey if'n it makes ya feel good go for it!

I think I'll use the Black kind that comes in a can as it seem to stay on boat longer . I still haven't figured out how the locknut disappers cause my prop was shinny .

All kidding aside, she is the best--a great person! Sometimes I look at her, think how lucky I am, and wonder why she chose me.

BTW: I only polish my bronze props, mainly because they look so good on the ramp.

Re: Polish props

So what and how do you polish your propellers? I am curious as well. I also have a Bravo 3 with surface rust and would like to "purdy" them up.

I tried some Mothers metal polish and my Dremel with a buff wheel, and it was minimal. It also flung polish everywhere.....

Re: Polish props

Luckily enough I have a drill press. I chuck a cloth wheel into it and load the wheel with grey or black buffing compound. I keep reloading it as I work the surface of the blade --At least 4-5 times. Then I switch to another wheel and use jeweler's rouge. Finally I use the white buffing compound if I feel it needs it. The buffing compounds can be purchased at Sears along with several cloth wheels. I find the drill press set on about a medium speed gives me more room to work than putting the cloth wheel in a grinder. You do need to use enough speed and pressure to deform the wheel and the prop blade will heat up some; a light touch is NOT required here. And no matter what: You will blow buffing compound and string from the wheels all around.

That's old school Frank. Easiest way to purdy em up nowadays is with a 'pearl disc'. Google it. Fits on yer 4" grinder. The results are amazing.

Re: Polish props

Indeed Frank good woman you have there.

Depends- is she willing to polish the prop for ya, or does she object to polishing in general? Man has a right to a polished prop if he wants one. I don't care WHERE he lives...
