I found out the hard way that the oil gauge on my Polaris Varage is faulty. I ran it without oil for about 15 min. on and off. I was wondering if there is any permanent damage done, and if so what can I do?

Yes, definately. I'm surprised it didn't seiz. I did the same thing last year with my 150hp outboard. Ran it for about 5 minutes at WOT, and it seized. Didn't realize I forgot the oil, started it again, and the same thing happened about 5 minutes later. Then I remembered the oil, put in about double the usual amount, and started it up again. It did run ok the rest of the day. I took it apart and all the cylinders have some pretty serious damage...you probably have the same. I don't know anything about your engine, but it would probably be best to take off the head(s) and take a look at the cylinders if you can.

low to idle speed would not do a lot of damage but hard running would sieze the rings,, do a compression check and see what it reads there may have been a little oil in it and the damage was minimal how did you discover the oil was gone. did the warning come on or did it shut down your plugs will show a silver deposit if it started eating the innards up if there was no oil at all it would never last 15 min it would have probably siezed or thrown a rod.
