I have a 4 hp johnson, i wasn't getting any spark in the bottom cylinder . i checked the points and they looked pitted .<br /> 1.Are these common parts for any marine store to have or is this going to be difficult to find?? and any idea of cost? 2. I noticed that one of the points was completly closed is this normal or the reason why i wasn't getting any spark? 3. when i install the new set of pioints the part of the points that rides on the crank shaft sould be touching the top of the crankshaft and and then i set gap correct ? thanks for the help

Bud you need a manual. Parts are available. If the points were closed on the "high" part of the shaft..No thats not normal and can cause a no spark problem.<br /><br />Set the gap on the "high part" of the shaft.<br /><br />Points are less than ten dollars.
