point to electronic converstion aftermarket

has any 1 converted points over to electronic. i seen an after market converstion that said u dont have to mess with points or condencers anymore. it is about the size of a quarter and looks very simple to hook up i was just wondering if it was worth trying ??

Evening wayne. I asked the same question here a while back. I put one on a 3 1/2 hp Westbend more than 20 years ago. I works like a charm! Fast start ups and no points to fool with.

I have one on a 40cc Quadra RC gas engine and it works very well. You will need two units, one for each cylinder. Not sure about the timing advance though on an outboard.

To clarify, I don't think they work with those OMC three pole mangneto coils. I've heard they work well on Chryslers, but I think they end up firing too early on Johnny/Rudes. The magneto system here is rather different from you're average Briggs.
