PM's - Repetitive New Message Notification

When I get a new PM pop-up, I usually open a new window, one of the options, so I don't lose my place in the forum. After I reply, I leave the window open. Afterwards I continue to receive new PM pop-ups, often 6 or more times. Each time it opens the "new" message, which was replied to on first receipt.

I've looked in the settings and don't see anything to disable the multiple notifications. One thing I did was was disable getting an email for new PM's, even though I only got one email for the initial message. But it made no difference.

This has been going on for a while and maybe someone has an idea. I'm running Firefox on an XP machine, fully updated. I haven't tried using another browser. Something on my end or something in the forum? It's just an aggravation.

6 or more PM's, I thought you only had 2 friends? Oh wait, that was me.:lol:

Seriously, I believe the reason you keep getting new pop up windows of the same message/s every time you go back to the first page would be because you are not closing the other still open page/s which is not allowing the program to see it has been fully read and cancelled out as already read. One option to try would be to click "refresh" for the other open windows once your done reading them before heading back to your main page. Clicking refresh should allow the system to see the activity with the PM's is completed and I would think it should help with stop sending new/same PM's.

Give refresh a try and see if it helps. If you need a PM friend to test, let me know.

Oh no, I have no friends anymore. :facepalm: I haven't had the unfriend message in a while.

I've tried to refresh/reload the PM inbox page, that didn't help. But since you volunteered, PM coming your way, FT. My PM window is closed, so we'll see what happens. Thanks for offering and helping.

Ayuh,.... After you read yer pm, in whatever window or tab, 'n then go back to yer main page,...

Refresh the Main Page,....

That should stop the new message pop-ups,...

Good Morning Bondo, I do hope it has warmed up for you out there.

Just a quick update on this, After many PM's today for testing, I believe GA_ has it figured out now by doing like you mentioned here.

Ayuh,.... Mornin' Paul,... Nope, ain't warmed up much at all,... 'bout -24? at the moment,...

Had to get up at 3:am to reload the wood boiler, 'n couldn't get back to sleep,...

Guess I shoulda reloaded it Before I went to bed,... :facepalm:

Always conditions, aren't there? LOL BTW - The check is in the mail. Or will be after I find a stamp. :lol:


On my "problem", Fun Times and I had a PM session going last night and it seems to be working better. Thanks for the help, FT. :thumb:
